NSW Volunteer of the Year finalist

SetWidth680 2016 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award Vanessa LiA fresh perspective, willingness to serve and an eagerness to get involved are just a few of the reasons Vanessa Li, Volunteer Assistant Internal Auditor was nominated for the 2016 NSW Volunteer of the Year Award.
Since September 2015 Vanessa has added incredible value to the work of Wesley Mission, its staff and clients. Vanessa’s can-do attitude and willingness to learn has seen her stretch her skills with the Auditing team and beyond as she’s helped with tasks for other managers, travelling ‘abroad’ to over 15 Wesley Mission centres and has even being involved in a flash mob! As if volunteering wasn’t gift enough, Vanessa looks for new and more productive ways of completing any task she’s given.
It is no wonder David Mitchell, Internal Auditor at Wesley Mission, wanted to honour Vanessa’s contribution by nominating her for the 10th Annual NSW Volunteer of the Year Award – an award that celebrates the outstanding contribution and commitment of volunteers and not-for-profit organisations in NSW while promoting the importance of volunteering in the community.
Both David and Vanessa attended their local ceremony where Vanessa was recognised as a finalist in the awards, a huge achievement.
“It has been a blessing to have a volunteer who accepts all opportunities and is never stopped by an initial challenge - and in so doing delighted clientele and built enthusiasm of staff and managers. Vanessa is a joy” David Mitchell.
Wesley Mission Volunteering Manager, Richard Duncan reinforced the critical role people like Vanessa play.
“Understandably, most volunteers prefer to give their time in our frontline services, directly experiencing the benefit of their volunteering. Vanessa’s support is especially valuable as administration and other office roles are often hard to fill.”
“As they do in many businesses, administration and office based roles provide the required support to frontline services possible”
Vanessa is an outstanding member of our strong army of dedicated volunteers, this recognition is well deserved . Congratulations and thank you.
